Chinoiserie chic & happy weekend

I never wrote about chinoiserie which is totally weird because I adore it and feel utterly inspired by the colors and motifs. So I thought today would be a good day since it’s Friday and I find this a relaxing topic, full of beauty and lovely patterns.

I’m wishing you a wonderful weekend and sending many hugs your way!

Windows to inspire

For as long as I can remember myself I’ve been a fan of huge windows and the impact they have on a room. There is something castle-like about them and how can one not feel majestic when surrounded by ceiling to floor windows? The amount of light big windows can let in can also have a great impact on you especially if you’re feeling under the weather every once in a while – I know light helps me! And last, but not least let’s not forget about how gorgeous they look!

On my mind: Electric blue

That’s one more of my color addictions. I hear everywhere people speaking about winter blues – for me it’s the electric blue that rocks this season because: a. its brightness makes me think of summer; b. it sounds cooler. Yes, it’s that simple. I love it how well electric blue looks in fashion industry too – it’s a statement color all around. But I guess it takes courage to use it, especially in home decor as its striking hue can look really bright and the question is: do you have the guts to commit to such a color?

Pop of yellow

Do you want to see the chicest apartment/office space? Then you’re in for a treat, because I’m about to share with you one glamorous, sophisticated, a bit classy, all in all chic space that I simply got in love with and I literally gasped when I saw the first photo of it. Turns out the space belongs to Lee Kleinhelter, the founder of Pieces, take a look:

Into the dark

The trend of dark walls has been around for like ever and honestly I thought it will go away with the time. Yet it’s still everywhere and everyone seems to love it and can’t get enough of it. I get it though, we all need some drama every once in a while and such drastic change might be what one needs at some point in life, I mean how much can one swoon over bright colors or innocent pale shades without tiring of it? One year tops, if you ask me :)

Lovely palette: navy-white-green

It’s finally Friday, friends! But for me it’s more than that – it’s also Christmas eve today and Christmas celebration tomorrow. Yes, might look to you we’re like living on another Planet, but that’s how it is – our Christmas is in January (cool kids like me celebrate it on December 25th and January 7th, so all is well).

How did your 2012 start off? Have you put your resolutions on paper yet? I haven’t, but I have only two or three, so there’s not much need for me to do it.

On another note, the two images below kept popping out all day today so I just couldn’t ignore how refreshing the color palette is: navy, white and green – totally gorgeous, feels like a breath of fresh air.

Enjoy the weekend!

“I don’t buy clothes – I buy houses”

That’s what real estate agent Juliette Hohnen says and let me tell you she’s quite good at it. For instance let’s take a look at her last nest – that space feels so fresh, uncluttered and airy, so I have enough reasons to think the woman knows her business. The only difference is that she made this side of her business so home-y and whimsical which I admire her for. Take a look:

Christmas treats

We’re just two days away from this year’s Christmas weekend which got me thinking is the perfect time to plan some Christmas baking, don’t you think? I’m not the best person to give advice about that (I’d love to bake, but unfortunately I don’t have the time for that and who knows – maybe I don’t even have the necessary skills, ha!), but I still wanted to help you in some way that’s why I prepared a collection of inspirational pictures together with the recipes for the presented in this post cookies and treats! And no, Christmas isn’t all about peppermint and red/white/green icing, so be creative, put your kids to work – who else has better ideas than them? After all, holidays are all about spending time with the family.

Christmas and the reindeer

There’s a tight connection between these two – have you noticed? Of course you have, a reindeer has been the symbol of a Christmas for a very long time now. I must say, when I see a reindeer next to a Christmas tree I instantly feel so much joy and holiday cheer and I know it wouldn’t be the same without the reindeer part. So no matter the style you’re going with this Christmas, put there a cute reindeer (plastic, paper – it really isn’t important) and you’ll add to your holiday even more festive vibes!
