Color me pretty {holiday style}

Christmas is right around the corner and I know how stressful last minute decorating might be. So I’m here again, with my two cents and the hope to give you an idea or three. Luckily, I’ve got some help from Leslie and Holly (two amazing women who are simply fabulous, motivating and inspiring to no end! p.s. see my interview with Holly here) and the always gorgeous Color me pretty posts on decor8. While browsing through that loveliness the other day I spotted some Christmas inspired posts, perfectly styled by Leslie who used different color schemes to create various holiday inspired looks for your home. I selected three color palettes and I do believe they’ll leave you speechless and overwhelmed with prettiness (that’s what they did to me!). Enjoy, but don’t forget to check Color me pretty on decor8 in its full glory, so many wonderful images (I adore Leslie and this column!).

{Gorgeous} Photography by Miki Duisterhof

Today while going through my multiple and very inspiring bookmarks I came across a name which caught my eye and spoke to me, whispering a tempting ‘stop’. I’m sure this happened to you at some point, right? Well, you won’t believe how mesmerized I was when I clicked on the category ‘Interiors’. All the pictures were right up my alley, very shabby chic, romantic and even feminine – and what else can a girl ask for after a working day :)? So the magic name is Miki Duisterhof and she’s a photographer, a fabulous one (just wait to see her clients: West Elm, William Sonoma, Veranda and many, many others!). Seriously, I was hypnotized by all that beauty! Here’s what I’m talking about:

Leran pendant lamp

There’s no news that I love all kind of light fixtures from luxurious chandeliers to Sputnik light fixture to bamboo styled ones. Speaking about bamboo – my new lamp crush has a name and it’s called Leran which can be found at IKEA. For a long while I was obsessed with it, however I know that Leran is far from being everyone’s favorite light fixture. Some people share my crush, others – well, not to so much (slightly being said!). Let me ask you now, would you buy Leran Ikea lamp (11 or 24”) for your home or not? I SO would! Dear Santa, I hope you’re taking notes:)

Soft pinks

Good morning, sweets! Will kick off this blogging day with the perfect image of how do I feel right now, so nothing smart or informative, just some pretty pictures in soft pink shades, because I’m a girl after all and feminine colors are right up my alley. It’s snowing outside, so everything feels so romantic and dreamy, I’ve lighted a candle and am enjoying some ‘me’ moments. Will be back later today with another post, meantime here is some soft pink bliss.

Holiday golden sparkle

Hello, friends! Happy Monday! I’m back from my mini-vacation, ready for new challenges and lots of inspiration (by the way I missed your blogs so much!). With Christmas being just 12 days away (can you believe it?) it’s the right time to get in the holiday mood for real, if you still didn’t. I’m continuing with my virtual home and tree holiday decorating and if my Christmas tree was so non-traditional, with a fresh color scheme (see here), then I couldn’t resist keeping it all simple (or not) about my tabletop – sparkling gold with modern and glamorous touches. I’ve seen inspiring images in the latest Lonny (have you checked it yet? it’s a stunner!) and so I felt it’s the perfect direction for me this year! Here are some ideas:

Interior barn doors

When it comes to our homes we all try to bring in warmth and serenity, opting for calm colors, details which carry a valuable meaning and that close-to-our-heart atmosphere. Normally you’d think that in all this bliss barn doors have no place. May I say they do? Another trend with bigger and bigger impact is bringing outdoors inside. If you recall, that’s what happened with swing chairs and the other thing I could think of now are barn doors – wooden, worn off, whether perfectly painted in a glossy red or simply washed out white, you name it! One thing is clear, interior barn doors are firmly settling in as headboards, sliding doors or proper doors used as decor.

Graham and Green {& happy weekend}

Hello everyone! TGIF, right? I don’t know how about you, but I for one am very happy it’s weekend and I get to spend some R&R time with my husband for the next two days (at least I hope for this). This week I’ve been absent a lot of time and believe me I’m feeling really bad because of this. I missed you all so much!

For the weekend I wanted to leave with a post about one lovely site which most likely you already know, Graham and Green. That is one gem of an online shop, people! Not only it’s so visually attractive, with a clean design and pretty colors, the styling of each product is beyond what you expect to see, it feels like they put all their stuff in one huge home and they’re shooting there every chair, side table or mirror in that respective room. Seriously, it’s a delight to browse Graham and Green shop! And wait to see their Christmas collection – a true winter wonderland!

Mint & Teal Christmas {this year’s fave}

Hello, friends! First of all let me apologize for being absent yesterday, leaving you with no post (can’t remember when that happened before, probably never). I was out of town all day, helping my MIL with her exhibition. But I’m back now! I missed you and hope you missed me too :D. And yes, happy December! Oh my, isn’t it unbelievable how fast time flies? In just one month we’ll say bye to 2010 and graciously embrace 2011. And this means what? Exactly – holidays are just around the corner, with reasons to decorate (and some shopping of course!). People are asking me what are  my favorite colors for Christmas this year and my answer is always the same: mint, teal, emerald green! I’m astonished by this color combo for a few weeks now! And imagine my face when I saw it in the latest Rue, on a Christmas tree (I was blown away, seriously!). The combo is so gentle yet so vibrant and modern. Traditional? No. Boring? No way! Awesome? Yes, please! I love it and will definitely consider decorating my tree with these shades. What about you?

Jacinta Preston Design

Ok, so I’ll admit, I’ve heard about this Sydney-based interior designer very few times, so I wasn’t really aware of what I’m missing. That’s why I was happy to stumble upon her site today and dive into all that inspiration and just abundance of creativity. Jacinta Preston is my hero. She’s mixing old and new, vintage and high end, muted and bright colors and she’s a dream come true. I was fascinated by her talented eye and fresh approach to either kids’ rooms, living areas or bedrooms. Jacinta Preston creates interiors which are perfectly livable yet nailed to perfection and almost untouchably chic. My first thought when seeing her portfolio was: ‘this lady definitely knows how to do thrift-shopping’ :). Here are some Jacinta Preston designs:
